From today on, please use this forum instead of the English forums on DNNPortal.DE.
I will lock the English forums on DNNPortal.DE.
Again adding more info on www.astra92.cz portal problem I was discusing on www.dnnportal.de.
I managed to work locally with www.astra92.cz DNN database on my local DNN 3.1.1 installation. After many tests I have figured out that the problem can be invoked in this way:
1. Install fresh DNN 3.1.1 (source code) installation with new DNN database on your local PC. I have used both Win XP and Server 2003 with .NET Framework 1.1 (also 2.0 was installed) and MSDE 2k SQL server.
2. Install DNNPortal-Download module and put it on some test portal page.
3. Setup the module on page.
4. Click Upload a file button.
5. Fill
Title = anything
Your file = any upload allowable file bigger than 1 MB (I used .exe files)
Description = anything
6. Click Update button and you should see error page.
7. Be sure to do the above throuth the portal adress http://yourIP (not http://yourServerName or http://localhost because in localhost adress it works fine)

Marek,
first thanks for moving to the new forum.
As I write before, I'm not able to reproduce your problem, and I never heard this problem from any other people.
The problem must be have anything to do with your installations or your settings.
If I try exactly what you describe the following appears:
I receive an error message like follows:
The File C:\dotnetnuke\Portals\0\DNNPortal-Download\host\strepro1002.exe Is A Restricted File Type. Valid File Types Include ( *.swf, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jpe, *.gif, *.bmp, *.png, *.doc, *.xls, *.ppt, *.pdf, *.txt, *.xml, *.xsl, *.css, *.zip, *.msi). Please Contact Your Hosting Provider If You Need To Upload A File Type Which Is Not Supported.
But this is correct, because the file extension exe is not allowed by default.
After adding the file extension exe in the host settings, everything works well and I can upload exe files (> 1MB) without any problems
Yes, .exe file extension must be allowed - I have it.
But problem occures only when accesing the portal through http://yourIP address (#.#.#.#). That means that You need to add yourIP to portal aliases (maybe one and only alias so that it is not swithed back to your web server name). And try it on your local PC.
When I access my test portal through http://localhost, I have no problems.
Marek
I will give it a try, but I must setup an test environment for that.
BTW: What is the advantage to access the portal over an ip address ?
I never used an IP address for accessing an internet site (excepted in the 1995 I start with internet developing)
Maybe no advatage, but it demonstrates my problem.
Actually my online portal www.astra92.cz has the problem even with server name address, but I could reproduce it on my local PC only when accessing it through local web server IP address. I do not know why.
