Blog release date - I don't know what happens !

In the past week I have received a lot of messages with always the same question:

When will be the blog module available for download ?

Sorry guys,

I don't know.

I have finished and upload the files for the blog release on 10/21/2005.

Look here for more information

I don't have any further information what the problem is to publish the files.

Hopefully it will be soon !

Blog module close to release

Today we have finished the final tests with the new blog module.

The version 3.1.20 is no final checked in and is ready for release. Shaun and Scott are informed that the version is ready and can be published.

You need to have installed DNN version 3.1.0 or a later version to install the module successful. If you should have installed DNN version 3.0.13 please update your DNN installation before you install the blog module.

If you are a NewBlog user you can install the new blog module without any problems. While the installation process the NewBlog module will be cross-graded with the new blog module. All data from your NewBlog installation will be copied to the new blog module and all instances of NewBlog in all portals will be replaced with the new blog module.

You can easily check the installed version with opening any rss feed in the blog module the module name and the version will be reported in the Generator entry of the rss feed.

The generator entry for NewBlog starts with "NewBlog Rss Generator..." and for the new blog module the entry starts with "Blog Rss Generator...".

Here a summary of the new feature:

Extended RSS Handling implemented
ISearchable Interface implemented (DNN Search)
IPortable Interface implemented (Import/Export)
IUpgradeable Interface implemented (Upgrade NewBlog)
Crossgrade procedure for NewBlog implemented
Import function for the discontinued Forum/Blog module implemented

With the present-day email notification about a new version of the module DNNPortal-Download, innumerable emails were not delivered again because of not existing Mail addresses.

After a control of the users, I found out, that some users change their registration information after they have received their confirmation email and change their email address to a non existing email address.

Since I don't find that this is fair, that users are on my web site, which wants to come into the pleasure of the performances for registered users, but not even use their true email address, so that they can be informed about news or alterations of the portal, I find myself forced to fit an advanced email check in future into the registration.

I will furthermore run a query over all users in approximately 10 days, and each user who doesn't have a valid email address, will be deleted.

The new version 1.0.13 includes the new feature:

ISearchable implemented
New settings for visible fields in upload form
For the description field now the Text Editor is used instead of a simple text box

How surely the most of you know my Weblog module NewBlog has became official DNN sub project of DotNetNuke.

The module will be soon published for the first time as an DNN sub project.

Completely according to the motto "Eat, your own Dog food" I have today installed the new blog module in this portal to check it in the real operation thoroughly once again.

As first resume, I can say that the automatic Update routine for NewBlog worked without any problems.

NewBlog Service Release for DotNetNuke 3.1.1

After installing DotNetNuke 3.1.1 NewBlog will no longer work.

It seems to be that there are some changes in the core which effects some DNN modules.

The new version 3.1.18 of NewBlog is a service release which fixes the problems with DotNetNuke 3.1.1

Good News for all NewBlog Users !

It's now official, NewBlog become the official DotNetNuke Blog module.

At the moment, we are working on the definition, for the first official release as an DotNetNuke module.
Likely the module will no longer called NewBlog. The new name becomes simply Blog.

Don't expect any miracles for the first version,
my main attention is a clean robust migration from NewBlog to Blog.

In the past few month, thousands of people has downloaded NewBlog. And I hope that this will be also in future.
I have received a lot of very friendly messages, from a lot of happy NewBlog users.

I assume that we have in future even more users which are using the blog module, I hope, that the most of them will be mostly happy with the module.

The web site www.schelian.com is dedicated for providing information about my DotNetNuke® developments and modules in english language.

In the past few month I have noticed, that a lot of people who are not speaking german, use my modules and for those people it seems to be much more easy to get the needed information from a dedicated english web site instead of a mixed language web site like DNNPortal.DE.

My native language is German, and therefore the one or the other mistake will probably be contained in my English messages.

Therefore I would like to apologize for that, and If there is something misspelled, please feel free to contact me and send me the correction.
